Washington State Fish and Wildlife Now Has Lessons for Kids

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

Do you ever wonder what it would be like if there were wildlife lessons offered to elementary, middle, or high school kids?

I do!

In fact, the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has developed a program for school-aged kids who are looking to develop their knowledge in fish and wildlife.

The WDFW will be offering lessons in fish, wildlife, and wildland for kids that are interested in learning about these subjects.

When I was younger, I wish that I had this opportunity. Instead, I would do my own research to develop my skills in wildlife.

There are so many interesting topics that can be spoken about in order to engage the younger generation.

So, this is exciting news!

According to the WDFW, these lessons will begin on January 22nd, which will cover their first topic of “Beavers, Nature’s Engineers.”

As stated by Director Kelly Susewind who works for the WDFW, “Getting kids connected to nature is key to protecting the future health of our waterways, landscapes, fish, and wildlife.”

Susewind makes an excellent point. It is essential to learn about this topic as it will help others understand the importance of keeping the surrounding nature beautiful as ever.

According to WDFW, “The program currently consists of a series of 14 lessons, with a new lesson released on the WDFW website each Friday through June 11, 2021.”

This provides kids a whole five months of learning if they would like to take advantage of it and engage in this excellent opportunity.

By participating in this, it will provide the younger generation with excellent education in fish and wildlife by WDFW. Kids will have to opportunity to grow from these lessons as they learn about the importance of sustaining wildlife.

Not only will they receive educational lessons, but it is possible for some of them to want to seek a career in fish and wildlife in the future.

I look forward to reading more about how this program is moving along once it begins in two days!
